No – there is no such thing as multi-tasking!

Now, there are times when you must give your attention to multiple tasks. Be aware that you are not multi-tasking, you are attention-switching, and take this into account when you switch your attention to another task. At the very least, you will need to take time to “catch up” on the task before you perform some new action related to it.

My boss just shed some light on this. Great epiphany.

Boredom quotes for you; Because Most of You Are Always Bored..

“Virtuous people often revenge themselves for the constraints to which they submit by the boredom which they inspire.”

“Boredom is just the reverse side of fascination: both depend on being outside rather than inside a situation, and one leads to the other.”

“Nobody is bored when he is trying to make something that is beautiful or to discover something that is true.”

“There’s no excuse to be bored. Sad, yes. Angry, yes. Depressed, yes. Crazy, yes. But there’s no excuse for boredom, ever.

Life Quotes

Life is too deep for words.

so don’t try to describe it –
just live it

When we remember we are all mad, the mysteries disappear and life stands explained.

After one look at this planet any visitor from outer space would say “I WANT TO SEE THE MANAGER.

All the world’s a stage and most of us are desperately unrehearsed.

Life is like a cobweb, not an organization chart

I don’t want to get to the end of my life and find that I lived just the length of it. I want to have lived the width of it as well.

Let yourself be open and life will be easier. A spoon of salt in a glass of water makes the water undrinkable. A spoon of salt in a lake is almost unnoticed.

The most important thing in life is not the triumph but the struggle. The essential thing is not to have conquered but to have fought well.

When life gives you lemons, make lemonade. Then figure out how to sell it for $5.00 a glass.

“There is properly no history; only biography.”

Life is nothing but a competition to be the criminal rather than the victim

Parenting Quotes – because we all need these reminders :)

Feelings of worth can flourish only in an atmosphere where individual differences are appreciated, mistakes are tolerated, communication is open, and rules are flexible — the kind of atmosphere that is found in a nurturing family

Whoever said it first spoke with insight and wisdom: you don’t own children, you only borrow them

Don’t worry that children never listen to you; worry that they are always watching you

Do not ask that your kids live up to your expectations. Let your kids be who they are, and your expectations will be in breathless pursuit.

Your children will become what you are; so be what you want them to be.

The child supplies the power but the parents have to do the steering

Parents often talk about the younger generation as if they didn’t have anything to do with it.

There comes a time when a woman needs to stop thinking about her looks and focus her energies on raising her children. This time comes at the moment of conception. A child needs a role model, not a supermodel

Don’t handicap your children by making their lives easy.

Children begin by loving their parents; as they grow older they judge them; sometimes they forgive them

There is only one pretty child in the world, and every mother has it

“There is no such thing as a unisex brain,” says neuropsychiatrist Dr. Louann Brizendine of the University of California in San Francisco and author of “The Female Brain.”

DECEIVED: Are there really animal bones in gummy bears?

What is gelatin/gelatine?

If you’ve ever eaten in a cafeteria, chances are good that your dessert options included Jell-O. There are hundreds of different desserts that use Jell-O to create everything from your basic institutional-style gelatin square to ornate designs that incorporate varied Jell-O flavors, fruit, and whipped toppings. Jell-O consists of four basic ingredients:

1. gelatin
2. water
3. sugar or artificial sweetener and artificial flavors
4. food coloring

The gelatin in Jell-O is what lets you transform it into all sorts of different shapes. What exactly is gelatin? Gelatin is just a processed version of a structural protein called collagen that is found in many animals, including humans. Collagen actually makes up almost a third of all the protein in the human body. It is a big, fibrous molecule that makes skin, bones, and tendons both strong and somewhat elastic. As you get older, your body makes less collagen, and individual collagen fibers become crosslinked with each other. You might experience this as stiff joints (from less flexible tendons) or wrinkles (from loss of skin elasticity).

Gelatin (US spelling) or gelatine (British spelling) (used to make Jell-o and other desserts) is made from the boiled bones, skins and tendons of animals. An alternative substance is called Agar-Agar, which is derived from seaweed. Another is made from the root of the Kuzu. Agar-Agar is sold in noodle-like strands, in powdered form, or in long blocks, and is usually white-ish in color.

It was popularized in the Victorian era with spectacular and complex “jelly moulds”. Gelatin was sold in sheets and had to be purified, which was very time-consuming. It also made gelatin desserts the province of the relatively well-to-do. In 1845, industrialist Peter Cooper (who built the first American steam-powered locomotive, the Tom Thumb), obtained a patent (US Patent 4084) for powdered gelatin.

Where can you find gelatin?

Gelatin is a common ingredient in foods because it is so versatile. It can be used as a gelling agent (as in Jell-O), as a thickener, an emulsifier, and a stabilizer. You’ll find it in a variety of foods, from yogurt to chewing gum. Here is a list of some other foods that commonly contain gelatin:

* gummy bears
* sour cream
* cream cheese
* cake icing and frosting
* marshmallows
* soups, sauces and gravies
* canned ham and chicken
* corned beef
* sausage

What is kosher gelatine?

Some Kosher gelatins are made with agar-agar, most are not. Some things that are vegan that are replacing gelatin are: guar gum and carrageenan. Only some ‘emulsifiers’ are vegan. Gelatin is used in photography. Although the technology exists to replace photographic film, its price is currently prohibitive and there is insufficient demand. Hopefully, with the growth of vegetarianism and veganism, this situation will soon change.

Kosher gelatin can be made with fish bones, and/or beef skins. Contrary to assumptions, it is also considered kosher to use it with dairy products. Kosher law is very complex and the bones and hides used in gelatin production are considered pareve. The general meaning of pareve refers to foods that are neither milk nor meat, and many people assume this means that the product is vegetarian. However, OU pareve certified ingredients can have animal products, such as fish, eggs, and gelatin, in them….since the gelatin product is from hides or bones – not real flesh – and has undergone such significant changes, it is no longer considered ‘fleishig’ (meat) but ‘pareve’, and can be eaten with dairy products.”
Is there vegan gelatine?

“Gelatine” is a substance made of animal bones and other parts of the animal’s body. So if there’s a product with “gelatine”, it can’t be vegan. But there exists a big variety of substances which are vegan an which have the same properties as gelatine: Cellulose (Amid), Agar-Agar, Biobin, Guar, Xanthan, Carob fruit and others. (Unfortunately I do not know the exact english names, but maybe this will help you already.) So if you read on the ingredient list that gelatine is used, then you can be sure that this product is NOT vegan. But if one or more of the other mentioned subsances appear on the list, you can be sure that you can eat them even as vegan.

Hain makes a Jello product with non-animal gelling substance (no meat, bone, skin, hoof, or any other part/derivative) that is superior to Jello. Also, some ‘snack pack’ gel snacks are NOT made with gelatin, and available in larger grocery stores (even in texas!), just read the label.The gelatin you eat in Jell-O comes from the collagen in cow or pig bones, hooves, and connective tissues. To make gelatin, manufacturers grind up these various parts and pre-treat them with either a strong acid or a strong base to break down cellular structures and release proteins like collagen. After pre-treatment, the resulting mixture is boiled. During this process, the large collagen protein ends up being partially broken down, and the resulting product is called gelatin. The gelatin is easily extracted because it forms a layer on the surface of the boiling mixture.

Agar, arrowroot, corn starch, guar gum, xanthan gum

Disturbed by Rihanna (vent)

Rihanna Pictures, Images and Photos

Just another puppet that’s being controlled by the label. She’s just very overrated, plastic, corporate-produced, pre-packaged garbage.

She doesn’t have enough talent to be as big as she is. Her voice is nothing special and her singing is definitely not as skilled as even many American Idol contestants. I do think she made it big because of her looks(which I also, don’t understand because she doesn’t seem attractive at all to me either). There are so many more gorgeous girls from the Carribean with much more beautiful voices. What also irritates me, is that instead of counting her blessings and being thankful for where she is, Rihanna instead, acts rude and stuck up to her fans with a diva attitude as if she can sing like Whitney Houston(if you go on TMZ and look up the video with her leaving I think the Late Show while ignoring her fans, you’ll understand what I’m talking about). She’s fortunate to even be noticed by them. There are dozens of people with more talent who should truly be in her place, but, like they say, life can be unfair.

Most of the garbage popular music is enhanced in the studio to sound good. Nearly all of these so called artists that are incredibly popular are really talentless hacks and are popular for their marketability through tv, magazines and videos. Hell look at T-Pain, the guy is a total joke. He uses auto-tune and everyone thinks it sounds so cool. Its takes no talent to do that, its a computer changing the pitch of his voice. Autotune programs can make steven hawking sound like that. People need to get a clue before decent music dies completely.

Because in the studio, they are able to do multiple takes until they get it right. Also, in the studio there are countless mastering effects, vocal tools, etc. They have software that can fix the pitch of your voice, make it fuller, etc.

Rihanna for example simply has no talent, notice how she like always touches her crotch or is wearing october 31st attire on stage or something like that see that’s meant to distract from the fact that she sounds like a goat making orgasam Noises underwater lol

I find it amazing how some people think she is the “next Beyoncé”. Rihanna will NEVER even come CLOSE to the amazing, powerful, soulful voice of B. She has some catchy songs, but the writers DEFINITELY gave them to the wrong artist.

She is better than most of the Disney “singers”, though. **cough cough MILEY CYRUS **cough cough JONAS BROTHERS *cough cough

She doesn’t have a great voice and doesn’t write songs or play any instruments. If you listen to her sing live you will know what I mean when I say her voice is nothing special.

She is just another one of those “hot” celebs with no real talent. Just like Miley Cyrus, Britney Spears etc. I could go on and on.

I do not hate her- she’s obviously adored my many humans..but it erks me that so many people I know drool over her and I’m left looking like the douche when I break out with all the above. Her music is catchy, I like to dance to it…but that’s not because I like her- just the production work EVERYONE ELSE puts in.

Sighs. Just needed to vent ya’ll.

Yay or Nay on CA Prop 19

California will be voting on Tuesday, Nov 2 on whether to legalize the use of marijuana by all people over the age of 21. If it passes, it will be a stunning achievement for individual liberties and states’ rights in defiance of overbearing and ineffective Federal drug laws.

But beyond the ideological and political reasons, here are some more practical reasons to vote for the proposition-

NO on prop 19

1) IT will be even easier for teens to consume it
2) Probably a Tax increase
3)you are voting for new cannabis crimes
4)The walmartization’ of cannabis by large corporations.

How will Prop 19 affect you?

• Are you age 18-20? You will not be allowed to consume cannabis legally under Prop 19. Currently, all you need is a medical recommendation to do so.

• Do you interact with anyone under age of 21? You will be looking at up to 6 months in jail for passing them a joint. (If the person is under 18 you will be looking at up to 7 years in prison.)

• Do you live in the same “space” and a minor? (Space could mean anything from the same house to an entire apartment complex.) You will not be allowed to consume cannabis.

• Do you rent your home? Prop 19 will only allow you to grow cannabis if you have permission from your landlord. Due to the risks involved, many (if not most) California landlords do not allow it. How is this legalization?

• Do you grow cannabis with a doctor recommendation? Prop 19 will likely be interpreted by law enforcement and judges to limit your grow space to 5′x5′.

• Do you provide your extra medical cannabis to dispensaries? It will be a crime to do so if Prop 19 passes. In addition, large Oakland growers and tobacco companies will take control of the market and push you out.

• Do you currently have to use your medical cannabis anywhere but home? Prop 19 will prevent patients from using their medicine anywhere in pubic. Which for many people with illnesses is not always possible.

• Do you sell your extra medical cannabis to other medical patients? Prop 19 will make this practice illegal. Even if you are only selling it to cover your growing cost.

• Do you currently enjoy the use of cannabis free from Government interference? Not only will the Government impose excessive taxes under Prop 19, but the federal government will likely respond with unprecedented action against California cannabis users. “The federal Controlled Substances Act makes it a felony to grow or sell cannabis. California can repeal its own marijuana laws, leaving enforcement to the feds. But it can’t legalize a federal felony. Therefore, any grower or seller paying California taxes on marijuana sales or filing pot-related California regulatory paperwork would be confessing, in writing, to multiple federal crimes.”

Would create potential state revenue?
Um, probably not, according to the prop description which states, “Allows people 21 yrs old and older to possess, cultivate, and transport marijuana for personal use.” This means, by my interpretation, that government is basically saying, “Law enforcement has hands off of cracking down on weed as a criminal offense.” This means that the average Joe (your neighbor perhaps) now has the freedom to grow his own “plants” in his backyard and make his stuff for his own personal use.
How does the government have the ability to regulate that! There was no clarity on licensing, and it doesn’t matter. There is no real way of knowing who’s growing the stuff and who isn’t. Therefore, if government can’t regulate, government can’t tax!

Medicinal? According to the OEHHA Proposition 65 list of chemicals known to the state to cause cancer or reproductive toxicity, marijuana smoke is known to cause cancer.
I would personally like to know, If it’s not addictive, why is it habitual? My logic: Anything regularly inhaled into the lungs is bad for human beings, whether it be debris, candle smoke, tobacco, Sharpie permanent markers, glue, brush fire ash and smoke, or weed. And not natural as it is not necessary.

Solve or reduce drug cartel problems? Not so much.
The problem is not that by voting NO on Prop 19, the violent drug lords will be inflamed and cause more violence, as the proponents of Prop 19 argue (who are we to fear them, by the way?). They believe that legalizing marijuana will reduce the drug problems through unbeatable competition?

No, I’m going on a tangent, but here the solution lies in real border security and militant force (helps solve immigration problems too), something that the U.S. government has failed to effectively enforce, fund, support. Remember Former Border Patrol Agent Ignacio Ramos, the man convicted of shooting a drug smuggler? Fishy stuff. And then Obama passes funds to a useless allocation to strengthen security and sends a few troops here and there? Yet the troops can’t shoot anyone unless it’s really self-defense? Basically, the U.S. government does not find drug cartels a priority and may secretly be “dealing” with them in a different way.

Yes on prop 19

A british study on marijuana and driving published last month showed that even people that are EXTREMELY stoned (consumed 5 to 10 joints) are only as impaired as someone with a BAC 0.04, and drivers that consumed less then a joint drove better then sober people, these result are further compounded by the fact that stoned drivers drive slower.
Also, not only has marijuana alone never been linked to any form of cancer, it is one of the most promising substances is a such for a cure. Studies have shown that when tumors are injected with THC most of them go into remission.

And your comparison of prohibition and rape, just plain idiotic, one is a victimless crime whereas the other is one of the most horrible offenses a person can commit.

The war on drugs has, far from helping people, actually only created a hug black market, increased use of hard and soft drugs, created a beachhead for government tyranny, created a bunch of bad precedent in courts, and made drugs easier for both addicts and youth to get. THERE IS ABSOLUTELY NO REASON FOR PROHIBITION.

-The Federal “war on drugs” has already failed, especially in regards to marijuana. People are going to get weed anyway, so why not let them get it from legitimate growers and sellers rather than from shady drug dealers? This also has the added benefit of taking marijuana profits away from dangerous gangs and Mexican drug cartels that control the market today, much in the way that 1920’s era gangsters were put out of business when alcohol was re-legalized.

-Legalization means new legitimate jobs for the California economy. It also means profits will be taxed resulting in increased revenue for the state. Taxation from marijuana sales is predicted to be in the hundreds of millions, if not billions of dollars.

– Marijuana users, growers, and sellers will no longer be arrested or jailed, which will reduce police , court, and prison operations costs.

-Marijuana is scientifically deemed to be safer than alcohol and tobacco.[1] Unlike other drugs ,it’s virtually impossible to overdose on pot, and it’s not physically addictive.

-There are industrial benefits to cannabis production as well. Hemp (marijuana fiber) can be used to produce textiles, plastics, and other products. Some products are of superior quality when produced with hemp than with the standard materials used today.

Whitman vs. Brown (Just some Facts)

Here is the current poll for Brown vs. Whitman:

Born and raised in California it’s difficult for me to believe that California voters can’t put two and two together! Arnold is a Republican acting like a Democrat, and while he is certainly liked he has been unable to clean up the mess left by several Democratic Governors of the state, most likely due to the embedded US Senators and Congressional legislatures, but he has to take the blame himself as: like I said, he does act like a Liberal a lot.

The above being said I think Brown will not be able to solve the states huge financial crisis, eventually begging the Federal government to pick up the pieces (if they don’t have another major quake). If O is still in office when California is officially designated a loss he will no doubt bail them out.

For the answer that said Brown was not a big spender, you don’t have to be labeled a big spender to spend on the wrong things. California’s problem has a lot to do with housing and business tax and regulation, which Brown is definitely a part of.They didn’t call him
Governor Moon Bean for no reason.

Meg Whitman Pictures, Images and Photos

Whitman is a billionaire business exec with no previous political or government experience and has only advanced because she has spent $80 million on TV ads. She has not yet had a press conference and refuses to answer questions. Arnold did not show up for a forum with other candidates because it was not viewed on TV in prime time. She is conservative Republican.

Meg Whitman is politics as usual and wants to buy her way into the governorship. She wants the position and the power but could care less about the people. It will never happen.

Meg Whitman is for smaller government and letting the tax payers of the state keep their hard earned money. Less governmental control over the private lives.
Meg Whitman is the lesser of the two.

Meg Whitman: billionaire who used her own money to fund her campaign due to a lack of donations from common people.

Meg Whitman is a self made businesswomen who care enough about the state to fund her campain with her own money, lessening the chances she has been bought off

Whitman worked for Goldman Sachs and did insider trading which is illegal. She was CEO at Ebay and made her billions and then laid off people. A CEO does not make an effective governor, as we have witnessed with Arnold for 7 years. He failed totally. He had no political experience. She did not even vote for 28 years. She had people working for her who got paid. It is a different problem to have the responsibility of 37,000,000 people’s lives on your hands. She has no proven record of helping people, of any public service or any actions that indicate she would know what to do for the state. She cannot help people find jobs. That is not the Governor’s purvue. She would lower taxes but that would not help hiring and roll back environmental rules.

Jerry Brown
Jerry Brown Pictures, Images and Photos

Jerry Brown… washed up, but highly successful politician.

Jerry brown is a washed up politician who is running on the “im a super liberal” plat form.

Jerry Brown is the grandfather of California politics and a liberal Democrat but with age has developed more centrist views. He was the Governor in the 70s, then he was mayor of Oakland and currently is the Attorney General.

Jerry Brown had a bad run as Governor many years ago during a different time. Since then, he has had a successful term as the Mayor for Oakland and Attorney General for the state, He has a deep commitment to the state of California and her people.

Jerry Browns answer to everything it tax tax and more tax. Bigger government and more government taking from everyone. Ran the state already and almost caused it to go bankrupt. He should be told to retire and not come back!

The Smiths – How Soon Is Now ? (song)

The timeline of human evolution is long and controversial, with significant gaps. Experts do not agree on many of the start and end points of various species. So this chart involves significant estimates.

Why Haven’t All Primates Evolved into Humans?

Humans are unique among life on this planet, and much remains a mystery as to how we evolved. What steps came first? Why did we evolve this way and not that direction? Why are we the only human species left? What other paths might we have gone down in our evolution? And what directions might we go from here

Bruno Mars

This year he became the go-to guy for hip-hop melody, shaping the sound of radio with a pair of hits on which he wrote, produced and sang. They were virtual gifts to run-of-the-mill, melodically inclined rappers: “Nothin’ on You,” which became a No. 1 Billboard pop hit for the Atlanta rapper B.o.B, and “Billionaire,” by the Gym Class Heroes frontman Travie McCoy, which went to the top five.

But his placelessness hasn’t always been an asset. Born Peter Gene Hernandez, Mr. Mars is primarily of Puerto Rican and Filipino descent, which proved to be an obstacle in his industry dealings. “I was always like, girls like me in school, how come these labels don’t like me?” he said.

An early record deal with Motown went nowhere. Race was always a concern. “Sadly, maybe that’s the way you’ve got to look at it,” he said. “I guess if I’m a product, either you’re chocolate, you’re vanilla or you’re butterscotch. You can’t be all three.” He named his debut EP, released this year, “It’s Better if You Don’t Understand” — a taunt.

“Don’t look at me — listen to my damn music,” he said. “I’m not a mutant.”

He now has before him the daunting task of getting out from a shadow of his own making. (Though the spotlight isn’t always friendly: he was arrested last month in Las Vegas on suspicion of cocaine possession.) For the moment, at least, he’s the most important male singer working in hip-hop, a short but proud lineage that includes Nate Dogg, Pharrell Williams, Akon and, more or less, T-Pain. Rap-R&B collaborations have been plentiful for almost two decades, but typically it’s a female singer called in to add sultriness to an aggressive song. Mr. Mars is part of a little-discussed parallel history, one whose shape he’s changing. These collaborations are only one part of Mr. Mars’s catalog, but they matter.

His fluency with hip-hop is an implicit part of his songwriting, even on songs that don’t feature rappers. He also has a gift for songs with global reach. Matisyahu’s “One Day,” a Smeezingtons production, was used by NBC in its coverage of the 2010 Winter Olympics, and Mr. Mars produced and wrote on “Wavin’ Flag” by K’naan, a version of which was used as Coca-Cola’s promotional anthem for the 2010 World Cup. They’re songs fit for tourists.

And Mr. Mars knows how to grab attention quickly. A bit of the Sheraton Waikiki was peeking through during the Bowery Ballroom show. Mr. Mars and his band wore coordinated blue blazers and skinny ties. His tuft of hair was trimmed to a neat fade on the sides. There was dancing involved. He was a natural showman, as if he’d been doing it for decades.
